MyJapa was conceived in 2024 as an avenue to provide an all inclusive online information system for doctors looking to migrate from Nigeria to the United Kingdom to practice medicine. It contains everything a doctor would require from scratch, starting in Nigeria, to settling in and becoming financially, socially and culturally established in the United Kingdom.

We are familiar with the culture shock and initial struggle associated with settling in and getting information around common things like banking (especially salary accounts), energy providers, phone contracts, housing, accommodation, Nigerian food etc.

MyJapa is designed to ensure you have a robust and reliable source of information as it is continuously revised and updated frequently. We also welcome and appreciate information and feedback from all readers as our sole aim is to ensure every Nigerian doctor interested in working in the UK is equipped with all the information required to do so efficiently.

The website has been divided into 3 phases
Phase 1 contains information about starting your journey to the UK until relocating to the UK. It contains information about getting or renewing your international passport, IELTS, PLAB, GMC registration, job hunting, visitor visa application, skilled worker visa and pre-employment checks.

Phase 2 contains information on settling into the UK. It contains information ranging from arriving in the UK to opening your first bank account, understanding your payslip and a lot more. This section of the website is continuously developed with information that we find will be valuable to an IMG in the UK.

Phase 3 contains information on what you can do with the experience you have gained working in the UK. Information about countries that you can work in with you GMC registration, training certificates and clinical experience.
